A2A Headquarters TORRE FARO, Italy
Torre Faro, the new A2A Headquarters, is located in Milan’s southern strategic area and plays a key role in the regeneration of a major urban axis connecting the historic city center to the Symbiosis business district. The tower directly faces the future Olympic Village for the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Games, developed within a former railway yard.
FACES Engineering has been involved throughout all design phases, from the competition stage to site supervision. The project includes the construction of a new high-rise tower and a three-storey fully glazed building, as well as the renovation and retrofit of existing buildings previously owned by A2A, ensuring technical coherence across new and existing assets.
The structural and façade design required a high level of engineering coordination due to the geometric complexity of the tower. The building features a circular plan, reaches a height of 145 meters, and is defined by an eccentric truncated-cone geometry. This configuration results in a fully glazed envelope composed of unique modules, each differing in geometry, and structural slabs that vary from floor to floor.
Key architectural and functional levels — including the ground floor, the intermediate garden, and the belvedere at the 27th floor — are characterized by double-height spaces. At these levels, inclined belt trusses were designed to address structural demands while maintaining architectural continuity and transparency.
The project demonstrates how advanced structural solutions, customized façade systems, and integrated engineering design can support complex geometries and high-performance requirements in contemporary high-rise construction.
