Unipolsai HQ

The UnipolSai Headquarters, designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, is a next-generation high-rise building that combines architectural identity with advanced structural and façade engineering.

The tower rises from an elliptical floor plan to a height of 120 meters and is defined by a steel diagrid structural system integrated with an iconic triangular glazed façade. This configuration ensures both structural efficiency and a strong architectural expression, while supporting the performance requirements of a contemporary office tower.

Environmental performance is a core component of the design. The building features a double-skin façade with a naturally ventilated cavity, where controlled and dynamic airflow enhances thermal performance during winter and increases air permeability during summer. This passive strategy contributes to improved indoor comfort and reduced energy demand throughout the year.

With its distinctive silhouette and performance-driven envelope, the UnipolSai Headquarters has become a landmark within Milan’s Porta Nuova district. The tower accommodates a mix of functions, including retail spaces, offices, and a 270-seat auditorium, while a panoramic greenhouse and rooftop garden provide spaces for public and cultural activities.

The project demonstrates how integrated façade systems and structural solutions can support sustainability, architectural quality, and long-term building performance.
