Corso Como Place, Italy
Corso Como Place reinterprets an existing building through a comprehensive design approach that combines architectural renewal with high-performance engineering solutions.
The intervention delivers contemporary office spaces while redefining the building envelope to meet current functional, environmental, and performance requirements.
The architectural concept reshapes the external form through a new faceted glazed curtain wall system, designed to maximize daylight penetration and improve indoor comfort.
The geometry of the façade enhances light distribution within the workspaces, while its angular composition reflects the surrounding urban elements throughout the day, translating architectural expression into a technically efficient envelope solution.
A significant portion of the façade integrates photovoltaic elements, transforming the building skin into an active energy-generating system. This strategy contributes directly to reducing operational energy demand and supports the overall sustainability performance of the project.
The adjacent four-storey podium is a newly constructed volume, designed to accommodate office and retail functions. Its configuration enhances permeability at ground level and ensures a coherent integration between new construction and existing structures.
Corso Como Place complies with the international NZEB standard, supported by excellent energy performance. The building has achieved LEED Gold, WELL, and Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certifications, confirming a comprehensive approach to sustainability and user wellbeing.
These results are made possible through the combined use of extensive photovoltaic systems, geothermal energy — covering approximately 65% of the annual energy demand — and passive design strategies. High-performance façades integrated with automatic solar shading systems play a key role in optimizing thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
